Identity Truths
Before I had the chance to lie to her and tell her that I was fine, I heard the following words echo in my thoughts: “Choosing to lie to yourself is like pursuing death.”
So I told her that I knew God’s truth but could not understand why I was still struggling. She responded by saying, “Melissa, God’s truth isn’t just something to know, but to live and experience.”
Lessons from Backsliding
I am powerless and deeply dependent on Him to hold my healing and to transform my heart to desire His Kingdom over the false peace of controlling my body.
Allowing ourselves to be able to be broken and still okay is a strange but peaceful place to be. And we can trust the God who promises in His word that we are free and that He will sanctify us completely.
A Lesson from the Strawberry
I stood in the kitchen pondering this lesson. This freedom journey can be so hard. The winter months drag on for what seems like forever. I so quickly impatient and jump to quick fixes. I conjure up behaviors that make my heart look free or my own plans to speed along this process. The longer I walk with Jesus toward freedom the more I realize that there is no set plan there is only the Creator’s design. He designed us to be attached to Him, to ripen and bear fruit according to His plan. Yes, His way is slower than any of us want but it is the only way that will last.
Where I Belong
Almost immediately after I started eating, my life, my creativity, and my heart started to stir, like a bear stirring out of a long hibernation. The cave where I had stored the pieces left behind by my rationing, burst into life and started growing and blooming in ways I didn’t think possible.
Glimpses of Grace
Walking toward recovery can be hard on the heart. On the inside, there was a war being fought. I want to share my story in case you need the courage to take one more step and fight one more lie.
