The Story He Knew I Need
The meltdown arrived right on schedule. And right behind it came the voice I know far too well. The one that doesn't miss an opportunity.
You're a horrible person. A horrible pet parent. A horrible neighbor. A horrible wife. How could you lose it like that? Your husband is so disappointed in you. And so is Jesus, especially after what He just spoke to you. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Broken Plates
But mostly, I'm human. I had reached the end of myself. In my humanness, I broke. In my humanness, I couldn't feel and process all the things. So, I shattered. Just like those dishes.
And then, in my brokenness, succumbed to my humanness - and realized: I am human. I CAN'T carry it all. And I certainly can't carry it all with perfect grace and peace and dignity.
But here's the thing. We aren't meant to.
The Mind of Christ
So how can I walk in victory when the heaviness of old thought patterns and disordered eating habits are rampid? I challenge you to begin a new habit today, come into the presence of your Savior, Redeemer, and Friend; declare to Him, "I can't but You can, I need You Jesus."
The Joy in the Journey
If God had told me five years ago that I would be leading prayer groups about body image issues, I would have frozen in place. “No thank you, God. That is the last thing I see myself doing or have any desire to do, ever!” I was right in the middle of the hardest part of my recovery journey.
Maybe You’re Not Going Crazy
It was a downright heavy day, and I couldn’t pinpoint why. I couldn’t find an explanation for the heavy feelings of dread, self-loathing, and hopelessness that consumed me out of nowhere. I was sobbing as I grabbed my prayer journal to process this with Jesus.
