ED101

A critical presentation for our modern time.

Constance Rhodes

Special Guest

Missi Hale

(select dates only)

Why ED101?

You might have noticed that eating disorders, plastic surgery, and body image issues are on the rise these days. Once regarded as a 'teen girls' issue, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, exercise obsessions and chronic dieting are much more common now, affecting people of both genders and all ages. Particularly alarming is the world of "Pro-ana" web sites. For those who work with young people, and/or in a lay-counselor capacity, it is important to be armed with understanding about these issues, so that you know how to spot potential concerns, and also what to do about them.

Presentation Overview

Begins with Constance sharing some of her own personal struggle with disordered eating, as described in her book Life Inside the Thin Cage

Explains, with the help of visual aids, the key differences between anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and ednos

Offers suggestions for helping those who struggle

Features graphic Powerpoint presentation and 'primer' on pro-anorexia websites

Includes time for Q&A

In select markets, recording artist and recovering disordered eater Missi Hale to accompany Constance
