Tentative schedule for 2011 (coming soon)

Glen Eyrie registration page (coming soon)

June 15-18, 2011, Colorado Springs, CO

Hungry for Hope is the premiere Christian conference for eating disorders and body image issues. Hosted this year by FINDINGbalance in partnership with Remuda Ranch, Selah House and The Center, the conference is a key ministry and equipping event for professionals and lay leaders alike.

It will be our fourth year at the Castle in Glen Eyrie and we can’t wait to get back! With space limited to the first 135 registrants, this will be an intimate and encouraging time for both professionals and community members who work in or are impacted by eating disorders.

2011 Theme: “A Family Affair”

Hosted by FINDINGbalance founder and CEO Constance Rhodes, author of Life Inside the Thin Cage and Finding Balance with Food and host of the national "Fb Gathering" support group video-cast, this year’s conference focuses on the ways that family relationships play into eating and body image issues, as well as how they can become a healing force for recovery. Aspects of family relationships will be addressed, including familial attitudes about food, genetics, culture, shame and boundaries.

The Lineup...

We are once again joined by clinicians from Remuda Ranch and Selah House, as well as longtime Fb advisor and panelist Leanne Spencer, LPC, with new guests including The Center’s Dr. Gregg Jantz, (Hope, Help and Healing from Eating Disorders), renowned dietitian Eileen Myers, RD, MPH, LDN, FADA, Michelle Watson, PhD, LPC (founder, The Abba Project), author Margot Starbuck, TrueFaced’s John Lynch, dramatic artist Allison Allen, interventionist Jerry Law, DMin, and worship leaders Kristen Gilles and Jonathan Allen. A tentative schedule will be posted soon at the link on the top of this page.

The “Dad” Deal...

On the Friday of the conference we will put a special emphasis on fathers, which is fitting since we’ll be there just before Fathers day. We’ll explore the challenges fathers face when it comes having understanding of their role with eating issues and offer insight into groundbreaking efforts to equip and mobilize fathers to be a part of the healing process, while also finding healing for themselves. If you are a community member seeking to deepen your relationship with your father, this is the ideal conference for you to attend together. If you are a professional seeking new strategies to help fathers, you don’t want to miss it!

Up to 12 CE’s for Professionals

We are happy to announce that we will be pursuing accreditation from NASW and NBCC for up to 12 Continuing Education credits. We will also explore accreditation for dietitians for the 2011 event. More details will be posted here as they come available.

Processing Time

Based on feedback from the 2010 event, we have added in some time for processing groups for both professionals and community members so that each group can go deeper as desired following key sessions. These groups will be facilitated by our presenting team, including professionals from Remuda Ranch and Selah House.

Arts and Worship

Another area we are excited to expand upon this year is the realm of arts, prayer and worship. Allison Allen, an author and communicator known for her compelling dramatic pieces on the Women of Faith tour, will share original drama during a few key sessions. On Thursday and Friday evenings a special “Afterglow” prayer and praise session will convene, featuring Jonathan Allen, Kristen Gilles, and Constance and AJ Rhodes. This will be loosely structured times of worship, ministry and prayer for those who desire to participate. We can’t wait to see what God does!

The Setting

Nestled in the beautiful Garden of the Gods, Glen Eyrie is a key destination for those seeking physical, emotional and spiritual renewal. Conference General Sessions are hosted in a turn-of-the-century castle surrounded by beautiful grounds and wildlife. Guestrooms are available in the castle as well as in other buildings throughout the property.

In our fast-paced culture, a respite from the chaos is often just what’s needed to recharge and refresh. At the Glen, you’ll be immersed in nature, your cell phone probably won’t work, and there won’t be a TV in your room. Can’t be without your computer? Don’t worry. There are internet hookups in the rooms as well as a business center to keep you connected with the outside world.

Pricing, Lodging & Registration

Glen Eyrie has graciously worked with us to keep this year’s cost below $200, even with the added day. Conference cost (which includes registration, materials and meals) is just $198!

*This conference is intended for adults 18 years and older. An exception may be made for a 16 or 17-year old with a parent or guardian.
