Whether or not you can support us financially, you can still be a part of what’s happening. Here are a few ways…
In Luke Chapter 10, Jesus selects seventy individuals and sends them ahead of him in pairs to all the places he intends to go. These were normal guys – not even as close to him as the disciples – yet he entrusted them to be his hands and feet, representing him/God to anyone who would listen.
Following his example, we need people who will be our hands and feet – and especially, our mouthpieces – leading those who struggle to the resources we have to offer, and paving the way for us to make a greater impact than we can on our own.
This may mean directing people to our website by putting a banner on your blog, suggesting links to related sites, or sending strategic emails to your friends and family. Down the road, maybe you can even facilitate an “Fb Gathering” in your area, and help spread the word about a healthy lifestyle by impacting a small core group of folks at a time.
Being a “mouthpiece” costs you nothing but time and enthusiasm, and helps us in ways we can’t even measure.
In his bestselling book The Tipping Point, author Malcom Gladwell refers to an important type of person called a “connector.” Connectors are the type of people who know people. They remember people’s names, have a list a mile long of acquaintances who they actually know something about (and who remember them too), and thrive on being in the middle of a great web of people and causes, often serving as the catalyst for such connections.
If that sounds like you, then we’d love to have your help getting us connected with those who can help us increase our impact.
For example, maybe you have influence within certain ministries or organizations targeted to women, healthcare and/or education and can help get us connected. Perhaps you help make decisions about speakers for events (or know people who do), and can suggest Constance or another Fb representative as your keynote speaker. Or maybe you’ve got rich friends who you know want to help make a difference in this area. By all means, tell them about us.
If you’ve got someone you think we need to connect with, particularly if you actually know that someone, we’d love to hear from you.
There are lots of things to be done at Fb, and not a lot of folks to do them. For example, we currently have a need for talented and experienced volunteers to help us in the areas of graphic design, publicity, and internet marketing. We could use a person or two who has a creative flair to help us assemble bracelets for fundraising efforts. And from time to time we have other projects that can be done – many of them from anywhere in the world. We just need folks who are passionate, and who we can trust who ‘get’ what we’re doing.
