Welcome to FINDINGbalance, the world's first

video-on-demand website for eating and body image issues!

Who We Are

FINDINGbalance is a faith based health and wellness organization with an emphasis on eating and body image issues. We are also the first national organization dedicated to creating consumer awareness and understanding of EDNOS (Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified).

Our Mission

To proclaim a message of love, hope and truth to all who are in bondage to eating and body image issues, that they might find freedom to love themselves, and others, without condition--and fully embrace God's purpose for their lives.

We Believe...

All disordered eaters, regardless of the severity of their struggle, deserve to have resources available to them to help them learn about and overcome their struggles with eating and weight control.

Food and weight obsessions are addictive, and left unchecked can affect all aspects of our lives.

By being honest about our struggles with food, we eliminate the isolation of secrecy and shame.

Finding freedom requires examining and addressing all areas of who we are: emotionally, intellectually, physically, relationally and spiritually.

It IS possible to break free and to experience a much richer life than disordered eating allows!

None of us has to do it alone - God's help is available to guide us on our journey to freedom.

Why We Focus On EDNOS

While we offer comprehensive information and resources on all types of eating disorders, our founding purpose was to shed light on the staggering number of people who struggle with what are often called "non-extreme" types of disordered eating, such as chronic dieting, exercise obsessions and compulsive over-eating. These are categorized clinically as EDNOS (Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified).

The reasons for our focus on this area are simple:

1.       A lot of people fit this category

2.       There are few available resources for them, yet

3.       EDNOS is still very serious and can ultimately be life threatening.

The truth is, those who struggle with EDNOS can experience many health problems, including depression, infertility, osteoporosis and type II diabetes, as well as be more prone to developing clinical eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Because of this, we take all forms of disordered eating seriously, and will continue to have a special passion for reaching those who may not fit the more well known categories.

The "God" Stuff...

You will notice that we have included some spiritual components in our site which are based on the Christian faith. If you're not a Christian, don't let that scare you. While FINDINGbalance is indeed a Christian organization, we welcome the opportunity to serve all who struggle with eating and body image issues, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation or religious affiliation.

Additionally, because we seek to present the best and most balanced perspective available, it is important to note that not all of the experts featured on our site share our Christian worldview. They all, however, represent excellence in their particular field, which is why they're here.

Active Influence

FINDINGbalance acknowledges the importance of taking on an active and intentional role in helping to bring the issue of chronic dieting and EDNOS to the forefront of public awareness. We will pursue participation in appropriate events and studies - political, clinical or otherwise - that will help further this cause.

Long Term Vision

While much progress has been made in the area of eating disorders awareness, prevention, and treatment, we believe there is still far to go. We look forward to partnering with other experts and organizations in the field to expand offerings on a local level for pre- and post- treatment care, as well as to increase curriculum and resources, particularly on a faith-based level. If you share our passion for helping disordered eaters, and would like to find a way to plug into our mission, please let us know.
